GoogleGroups Filtering

It has come to Management's attention that most of the people who post to Usenet via the clunky GoogleGroups web interface are lamers. Because of their use of a clunky Usenet web interface (and all Usenet web interfaces suck, by virtue of the fact that Usenet wasn't designed for webification and does not need webification), they have no idea what Usenet is, how it works, or how to use it properly. If they were using proper news clients, some of them might have a chance at becoming clued; but clinging to GoogleGroups prevents this. It doesn't help that the GoogleGroups interface is now worse than the old one (the new one is still being called a beta, as I write). This killfile rule set was written for the proper news client slrn. It also works with the proper news client Xnews and the proper news client Pan. It should work with others, with a bit of format and/or regex tweaking.

If you'd like to supply filters specific to your own proper news client, or have any GoogleGroups rules that aren't covered, above, for slrn/Xnews/Pan, please email me with the working code, and I'll add it to this page.

If you'd like to use filtering but don't know how, please refer to your proper news client's documentation.
